Ryan Magnussen, is a leading entrepreneur in digital entertainment, advertising and streaming media. In 1995, Mr. Magnussen founded Zentropy, Inc., one of Hollywood’s first interactive ad agencies, and over a four-year period, he built it into one of the largest interactive agencies in the U.S., with annual revenue of over $80 million dollars. Under Mr. Magnussen’s leadership, Zentropy became one of the leading providers of streaming audio and video content from 1996 to 1999 and developed the online web-based platforms and strategies for Fox, Universal Music, Virgin Records, Paramount, Polygram, MGM and Warner Brothers. Mr. Magnussen also helped pioneer e-commerce and interactive advertising for major clients including General Motors, Coca-Cola, Procter & Gamble, Microsoft, Reebok and many others. Mr. Magnussen sold Zentropy in 1999 to IPG, one of the world’s largest advertising agency conglomerates. Zentropy is still a top 10 interactive services agency, which was recently folded into the MRM division of McCann Erickson. A recent Forbes article cited Mr. Magnussen as “an expert purveyor of the short, sharp thrill.”
Mr. Magnussen is a 1995 graduate of the USC Marshall School of Business and recipient of top honors, including the 1995 “Most Outstanding Student” Award and “Best Business Plan of the Year.” He is considered an authority in the field of digital entertainment and advertising, has appeared on covers of numerous publications, and has been a guest speaker for trade organizations including Digital Hollywood, Red Herring and NATPE.
